2024 BCACP Exam Information

The (Ambulatory Care Pharmacist) BCACP exam is changing in 2024. Pharmacists should expect a shorter exam. BPS announced that the exam will drop from 175 questions to 150 questions. When the BCACP credential was initially created, the exam was 200 questions. The 2024 BCACP content outline has remained consistent from 2023 so in general I think that is a good thing and helps candidates know what to expect and not be a guinea pig on a new exam. This is most helpful for those who have to retake their exam in 2024 because they didn’t achieve a passing score.

With the reduced number of questions on the BCACP exam in 2024, it is also important to note that the allotted time to take the exam will also decrease to keep the time per question consistent compared to previous years. I occasionally receive emails from pharmacists saying they did not finish their exam. Any questions that you do not answer will be counted against you so it is critical to pay attention to the rate that you answer questions.

In the video at the bottom of this post, I discuss the content outline of the BCACP exam. There are three primary domains and our study materials were designed to cover the entire content outline. The three domains for the 2024 BCACP exam are as follows:

  • Patient-Centered Ambulatory Care – 75%
  • Translation of Evidence into Ambulatory Care Practice – 15%
  • Ambulatory Care Practice Advancement – 10%

We’ve updated about 20 videos in our 2024 BCACP review course to keep up with guideline changes, new medications, and other relevant new information. We have also added and edited content based on customer feedback from 2023. Our goal is to provide cost-effective study materials that are focused on preparing you for the exam. We achieve that goal by putting our focus on the content outline and annually reviewing and updating the content based on feedback and clinical practice changes.

While the BCACP exam has largely remained the same with respect to the content outline, it is important to note that the BCPS exam (which many pharmacists take as well) is changing significantly in 2024. I’ve outlined these changes in a previous post which you can find here.

If I purchased the BCACP review course in 2023 (a 1 year subscription) will the 2024 changes be reflected there or do I have to make a purchase of the course for 2024?

Hi Jennifer, thanks for the message! As long as you are within your access pass window, you will get any new updates/changes as they happen. So no worries there! Hopefully that makes sense,
      Eric
